| Looming storm in the Valley of the Gods. |
This week's featured photo is from the Valley of the Gods in Utah. I was on my way to joining some family for a backpacking excursion in The Grand Canyon. I had mapped out a way to get there, but failed to look at what I'd be passing along my way. Much to my surprise, as I was traveling west on a highway through the Painted Desert, I crested a ridge and suddenly the landscape made some drastic changes. My first pass was somewhat short as not only was I on a time crunch but there was also a luminous storm on the horizon; and I'm not one for being out too long in the rain with a camera. While I didn't get many photographic opportunities that day I made sure that on my return I'd spend some more time and explore this area a little more. And I did... and what a day it was.
